NerdLab, by Lit Little Laboratories
NerdLab VTT: a free virtual tabletop for D&D in your browser
NerdLab is a fast virtual tabletop for fifth edition: fog of war, walls and line of
sight, initiative tracking, maps and a map editor, structured character sheets, and a
live TV or follow screen for the whole table. It runs in the browser with nothing to
install. Every gameplay feature is free, forever, with unlimited campaigns and
unlimited players.
What you get
- Map editor. Upload a battle map or draw your own with tiles, shapes and freehand tools. Layers, snapping, cropping, rooms, and a grid you can align to the art. Rotate the whole board: image, grid, drawings, fog and tokens together.
- Fog of war and line of sight. Paint fog by hand, or place walls and doors and let tokens see only what they should. Reveal new rooms as the party explores, so players cannot peek at anything you have not opened.
- Tokens and asset library. Build tokens from layered art or upload your own, then keep them in a library you reuse across every campaign.
- Initiative and battle manager. Roll initiative, track turns and rounds, apply conditions, damage and healing, with stat cards sitting beside the turn order.
- Character sheets. Full 5e sheets with abilities, skills, proficiencies, attacks, spells, equipment, multiclassing and a level-up guide.
- Live TV and follow mode. Put the board on a TV at your table, or send a follow link to remote players. Everyone sees what the DM sees in real time, without the DM-only panels.
- Sandbox mode for any system. Not running 5e? Start a Sandbox campaign and get the same maps, tokens, fog and notes, with editable PDF character sheets instead of 5e rules.
- SRD browser. Spells, monsters, conditions, equipment and rules from the 5e SRD, browsable and searchable in the same window as your game.
- PDF library with text search. Upload your own adventures, homebrew and supplements and read them beside the map. Scanned pages are made searchable automatically, so you can find text inside a book rather than only searching filenames.
- Campaign notes and a shared dice roller. Session notes, NPCs and plot threads stay with the campaign, and every screen has a dice roller with a log the whole table sees.

No feature is locked behind the paywall. Both plans include every

for is storage, so if you never fill 2 GB of maps and PDFs, you never pay anything.
